The Albatross

Being drained by our exhaustive castle viewing, we decided we needed a mini break. A classic British sea side holiday seemed in order. Blackpool here we come.
We started the day with a scoping walk, as Blackpool doesn’t really start to warm up until eleven. So, a stroll down the beach front, to check out the highlights, take in the shabby magnificence, and make a plan of attack for the day. We hit a coffee shop to develop the master plan and get out of the howling breeze, only to realise I’d left my wallet back at the apartment. By the time we arrived back we were foot sore and still decaffeinated. So, we sat and brewed a coffee and decided to research lunch.
So being a classic British holiday we decided we needed fish and chips for lunch and researched where the best place was. These are the best fish and chips in town by many web sites (according to our advisors Haddock and Chips are far superior, so they were thus ordered). We decided to forgo the special which included a mug of tea and bread and butter accompaniment, instead just opting for a side serve of mushy peas. Duty done and many chips eaten we waddled off to the highlights.
First stop the tower dungeons. Okay, we had lengthy discussions and I was happy to go on the full cheesy extravaganza, but I was moderated to just do two highlights. This was cheesy, but also well done, hilarious and really entertaining. We both emerged an hour later grinning like loons. I won’t spoil it. Just do it.
Next stop the Blackpool Tower. After the 4D tower experience, we ascended its rusty heights to over look the Lake District, Isle of Man and the Pennines (allegedly). Anyway, it was cool. After some exotic purchases of gifts for the undeserving and a few ales, we waddled back home to plan our last five days on the road and rest our very sore feet.
Adventure awaits.
