Our plan for today was to go for a walk to the next village over, have lunch and walk back. So after a very leisurely breakfast we wandered down the road 100m to look at the Mistley Towers. These are two towers that are left of 18th Century church.
Then around quarter to midday we set off for our stroll. The first part was less than pleasant, walking alongside the main road and on hard concrete. However, once we got off the road the walk was much better and through the local countryside and people’s farms. Lots of sheep.
Two hours later we got to Denham another pretty little country village. Two hours for lunch, sitting in the local pub and solving more of the world’s problems. I’ve had my first fish and chips and mushy peas of the trip.
Then it was a two-hour stroll back via a particular view spot for one of Constables paintings.
By the time we got back my feet and knees were killing me. I think we did about 16km, which was just a bit too far for me with my dodgy knees and my lack of fitness. However, it did help walk off lunch.
Back for a quick shower and then some dinner and more random conversations which included HECS and the Swedish chef from Muppets.
Bed time.
